WORLD Connect Malawi Country Director Frank Kasonga has urged government to quickly help in patenting the first ever Unifying Solar Energy System which has been developed by some young men in Machinga District.
Unifying Solar Energy System, according to the innovators, is the first ever innovation which goes against the law of science by increasing the amount of energy that has been created.
Kasonga made remarks in an interview when Clean Energy Engineering Limited handed over Chinduzi Health Post and a Unifying Solar Energy System for the facility at Chipamba Village in the district.
Kasonga said the innovation by Clean Energy Engineering Limited has shown that Malawi is capable of innovating products and services that can spur economic development in the country.
”We understand the clean Unifying Solar energy system is the first of its king in the World. Already, its benefits are enormous, considering that apart from saving the environment within the communities, the system is also helping people to have solar energy at an affordable price.
In an interview, Technical Director for Clean Energy Engineering Limited Blessings Kankhulungo expressed hope that government will help them promote the system to make sure that its impact benefits the country.
”Science theories believe that energy cannot be increased after being released. But our system is opposing that belief. With 100 Watts solar panel, we are able to produce and increase energy to over 600 watts. We have made over 30 systems which have been installed in various places. We can even make the system which can be used by industries,” Kankhulungo, who is a Mandela Washington fellow said.
Ministry of Energy spokesperson Saidi Banda said currently the ministry talking with international patent firms and local registration authority to ensure that the innovation is protected before being fully promoted.
”As a ministry we have tried to find out at international stage if we have something that works like this but at the moment it seems there is not. This is a big initiative for Malawi which can help to bring revenue to the country apart from solving the country’s energy woes.”he said.
