Rotaract clbs of Limbe and Blantyre over the weekend planted 1,000 trees in Chigumula Forest Reserve. The two clubs planted the trees as part of their “Together We Protect” campaign which aims at preserving the environment and engaging communities surrounding the forest reserve to preserve natural resources.
Rotaract Public Relations Officer, Vitumbiko Kaluluma, said they want to lead in environmental management efforts. “The main motto is ‘service above self’ and we believe in helping community members in areas such as conflict resolution, education, water and sanitation, disease prevention, maternal and child health, economic and community development. This is why Rotaract clubs of Limbe and Blantyre joined forces to plant trees covering and area of 0.9 hectors,” she said.
Rotaract is and international service organisation made up of people aged between 18 and 30.
