Mzuzu University, through the Test & Training Centre for Renewable Energy Technologies (TCRET), has organised the following short courses in Renewable Energy Systems (RES) to be conducted between August and December 2018:

The two week-long courses lead to Malawi Energy Regulatory (MERA) Certification of contractors for Category E as Renewable Energy Installers. The one-week long courses provide basic information for Renewable Energy Systems projects planners, financing agencies, inspectors, district, town and city councils officers implementing LDF renewable energy related projects. All courses are on non-residential basis. However, lunch and snacks will be provided.

General Courser Objectives

{C}(i)               {C}To enable participants to effectively design, install and maintain stand-alone solar photovoltaic and solar/wind hybrid systems

{C}(ii)              {C}To provide understanding of computer software tools that can aid in sizing and designing of stand-alone and hybrid renewable energy systems

{C}(iii)            {C}To enable participants, make informed decisions and effectively plan and supervise renewable energy projects and maintenance of the systems

{C}(iv)            {C}To enable participants, make informed decisions to invest in bankable renewable energy projects

Target Group

{C}(i)               {C}Directors, Engineers and Technicians of renewable energy (RE) companies/organisations

{C}(ii)              {C}Directors of Public Works (DPWs) and Directors of Planning and Development (DPDs) in District, Town and City Councils

{C}(iii)            {C}Technical personnel in Ministries and Departments such as Health and Education, benefiting from projects of solar or wind energy and other renewable sources

{C}(iv)            {C}Personnel from consulting films in building construction, electrical contractors and renewable energy installers

{C}(v)              {C}Personnel from institutions and organisations involved in financing and implementations of renewable and sustainable energy related projects

{C}(vi)            {C}Personnel from Regulatory and Standards institutions
