The Making Solar Bankable conference is about understanding and changing perceptions around bankability, with the aim of bringing to life more solar projects in emerging markets.

With this goal in mind, we invite you to take part in the Access Power-FMO Solar Shark Tank Competition. This competition is for local developers that require development support to make their solar projects more “bankable”.

Requirements for eligible projects:

  • Have a capacity between 5MW and 50MW.
  • Be a solar power generation project located in an emerging market in Asia, Africa or Latin America.
  • Be in a relatively advanced stage of development. Pre-feasibility studies should have been completed.

How to apply:

If your project meets these criteria, we invite you to complete the Application Form below. The proposal must include the following sections.

  1. Project description
  2. Regulatory environment and considerations
  3. Commercial feasibility
  4. Technical feasibility
  5. Social/environmental feasibility
  6. Project team capacity & experience

Application deadline:

Applications need to be completed before the 1st of February 2016.

Selection Process:

Proposals will be screened and allocated a score by a pre-selection committee assembled by Access Power MEA and FMO. Four finalists shortlisted at the pre-selection stage would be invited to present their project before an esteemed panel of judges in front of a live audience on 18th February 2016 during the Making Solar Bankable conference in Amsterdam. A winning project will be selected by the judges and announced at the plenary session.

Prize:

The winning proposal will receive a $100,000 grant towards the development costs of the project from Access Power & FMO. On top of that Access Power will also pre-qualify the winning project for the $5 million Access Co-Development Facility (ACF) 2016 deployment, subject to the ACF qualification requirements found on the Access Power website.
