Youth representative at the National Youth Conference on Climate Change underway in Lilongwe has made a commitment that the youth would take up the challenge of fighting climate crisis.
The youth ambassador, Delilah Mbvundula, said this at the opening of the three-day conference.
“All we need is your support; involve and engage us. We submit ourselves to the cause, but please use us effectively as you know issues of climate change are affecting us and they need to be dealt with urgently,” Mbvundula said
She said the youth make up 70 percent of the country’s population; hence the need for stakeholders to empower them with knowledge and skills necessary for dealing with climate change.
Ministry of Natural Resources, Energy and Mining, Environmental Affairs Department Deputy Director, Michael Makonombera, has since urged the youth to bring their innovative ideas of mitigating and adapting to impacts of climate change.
