Chinese energy supply giant, China Resources Group vice-general manager Lin Quiyang has said energy is the foundation for development.
Speaking to 28 journalists from 14 English-speaking countries that toured the company’s Guangdong Thermo Power Plant in Guangzhou, China on Wednesday, Lin observed that energy can be used as a force to give citizens a better life.
“China Resources Group is committed to be a force for better life. Energy is the foundation for development,” he said.
Malawi faces power shortages, and according to the 2018 Population and Housing Census, only 10 percent of 17.5 million Malawians have access to electricity.
The country has an estimated 700 megawatts (MW) demand against an installed capacity of 361MW.
Speaking during a briefing at the end of the tour, China Resources Power Company general manager (South China Area) Ma Li said the company is looking at the possibility of expanding to other parts of the world.
The China Resources Power Company, which prides itself in producing electricity from thermal, wind, gas, hydro and photovoltaic energy, supplies electricity to 34 million households.
