One of the country’s solar solution provider, Zuwa Energy Company, has expressed satisfaction with the increased uptake of solar technologies in rural areas. Zuwa Energy, Chief Executive Officer Jones Ntaukila, was speaking in Lilongwe last week during grand draw of its Ayaka Promotion.
Ntaukila said the company supplied solar energy products to over 1,000 customers across Malawi in 2018. He said Zuwa organised the promotion to celebrate with its customers following good business in 2018.
“So far, the uptake has been good because the product is of quality and productive in that goes it beyond lighting because customers can do anything with but cooking.”
“The other reason why our products have become popular is because of the loan scheme we offer,” Ntaukila said.
During the draw, Wyson Maluwa, a pastor from Berewu in Chikwawa District, won the grand price of K300,000. Solar technologies have become popular in the country in recent years following the Electricity Supply Corporation of Malawi’s failure to satisfy the demand for electricity in the country.
Only 10 percent of the country’s population is connected to the national grid.
