Invitation to stakeholders’ consultative workshops on the regulatory framework for mini grids

Malawi Regulatory Authority (MERA) is inviting stakeholders and interested individuals to consultative workshops on the new regulatory framework for electricity mini grids in Malawi.

MERA has developed the Regulatory Framework in line with its mandate to facilitate increasing access to energy supplies and following the energy policy and government’s Renewable Energy Strategy.

MERA has observed the increased developments if renewable energy mini grids, but with compromised safety and quality of supply and service. The framework will work as guideline for plying, designing, installation, operation and maintenance of mini grids to ensure value for money and sustainability of operations.

The workshops target mini grid developers, development partners, government, non-governmental organizations, electricity supply industry and all interested members of the general public.

The meeting shall be held as follows:

  • Wednesday, 07 March 2018 – Sunbird Lilongwe Hotel from 8:30am
  • Monday, 12 March 2018 – Sunbird Mount Soche Hotel from 8:30am
  • Thursday, 15 March 2018 – Sunbird Mzuzu Hotel from 8:30am

MERA values your presence and looks forward to your participation during the consultative worksops.
