A tree planting initiative underway is rewriting an ancient myth that no one can replant Mount Mulanje’s endangered cedar. For decades, Mulanje Cedar grew naturally in the think of the country’s tallest mountain. But the tree has almost become extinct due ti illegal logging and timber production.
Only seven mature trees of its kind still stand in the tourist attraction, says Forest Research Institute of Malawi (Frim) deputy director Tembo Chanyenga.
