“Load shedding or persistent blackouts”

Dear Editor, I write to express my dismay over what is called “load-shedding” by Electricity Supply Corporation of Malawi (Escom). 

Recently, we were made to understand that the opening of Kamuzu Barrage at Liwonde would make load-shedding a thing of the past. 

But the problem still persists and it seems it has come to stay. 

How grave is the decline of Lake Malawi this year compared to previous years? 

Why can’t Escom tell Malawians the whole truth at once instead of keeping the nation in suspense? 

We need to find immediate solutions to chronic power problems.
