Chief faults Forestry on deforestation

"Senior Chief Nankumba of Mangochi has accused some officials from the Department of Forestry of fueling deforestation in the district. Some officers in the department issue letters of permission to local residents to cut down trees, which makes it difficult for traditional leaders to intervene."
